Bharat Scouts and Guides is a voluntary, non-political and secular organisation, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed. It works in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by the Founder Lord Baden-Powell in 1907.
Our Chhattisgarh State Headquarters is located at the Sports Complex, Outdoor Stadium, Gate No. 3, E-Block, Budhapara, Raipur, from where Scouting and Guiding activities across the state are planned and coordinated.
Chhattisgarh's own mix of dense forests, a large tribal population and rich craft traditions gives our units here plenty to draw on – from nature-based camping to badges built around local art and community service.
1950
The year Bharat Scouts and Guides was founded.
Major General Lord Baden-Powell conducted an experimental camp on Brownsea Island in England with 20 boys. The success of the camp and the publication of “Scouting for Boys” marked the start of the Scout Movement.
At the Crystal Palace Rally, girls wore the Scout uniform and asked to join. Baden-Powell started a movement for girls with the help of his sister Agnes Baden-Powell.
Bharat Scouts and Guides was established, and has since grown into India’s largest uniformed youth movement.
The safety of children is our first priority. Every member of the movement is committed to protecting children and young people from harm, exploitation and abuse of any kind.
Safe from Harm is a set of actions designed to make sure that every person involved in Scouting is responsible and committed to protecting children and young people inside or outside the Movement, so everyone can feel safe at any time.
